Flexibly equipped with a stereo FX loop, the KMA Audio Machines Guardian of the Wurm is a practical mash-up of the raw power of the Wurm distortion and an easy-to-use noise gate pedal. As such, it's a great option for ground-shaking hard-rock, droning doom metal and that much-loved Swedish death-metal chainsaw sound. Using the extremely extensive EQ, this high-quality, hand-made German pedal be controlled or dialled in for prog-rock, shoegaze, indie or other styles.

The Guardian of the Wurm: Three Types of Clipping

The team over at KMA Audio Machines have packed three different types of clipping into the GotW: Silicon mode for iconic HM-2-style sounds; Asymmetric for extra grit and increased headroom; and Off for more compression and brightness whenever you've got a bass or baritone plugged in. You can even activate various EQ styles, including HM-II, KMA or both, where HM-II harbours that authentic chainsaw sound while KMA-mode offers more balance and a broader response.

Useful FX Loop

In between the distortion and the noise-gate section of the Guardian of the Wurm sits a stereo effects loop that can be hooked up to your most-loved stompboxes. If you want, you can use the FX loop jack to place the noise-gate in the FX loop of your amp. The noise-gate itself is based on the Blackmer® VCA, boasts high-speed response and comes with Threshold and Gate controls so it can be tweaked to match your playing style and give you anything from tight, palm-muted sound to deliciously long, detailed decay.
